Philosophy
Weinstein & Company concentrates on delivering excellent work, outstanding client service, and consistency of performance. We are not trying to be the biggest or fastest-growing search firm; our goal is to help a select group of clients hire key executives who will make substantial, long-term contributions. All of the firm’s policies and practices are consistent with, and support, this philosophy. For example:
- The founder and principal, Lew Weinstein, conducts all of the firm’s work; unlike larger search firms, Weinstein & Company does not rely on more-junior staff members to carry out such critical, high-value-added tasks as “sourcing” calls, candidate interviews, and reference calls.
- We accept only a few assignments at one time, allowing us to devote an unusual amount of time and energy to each search. We can therefore be exceptionally thorough and thoughtful in our work while still moving forward on schedule.
- The firm invests significant effort in learning about the client company’s history, business, future prospects, management team, and culture, as well as about the position to be filled. This has a tremendous effect on our credibility, and our client’s, in the marketplace; it also enables us to be far more effective in screening candidates.
- Weinstein & Company continues to look for new candidates until a search has been completed. Search firms often turn their attention to other projects once an initial panel of prospects has been generated; this causes a loss of momentum which can be difficult to overcome if, as usually happens, additional and/or stronger candidates are needed.
- The firm is known for the relationships it develops with candidates. Senior executives are aware that our fee is paid by the client company, but by genuinely considering their interests throughout the process, we build trust that enables us to overcome negotiating obstacles and reach favorable outcomes.
- We avoid delays by communicating frequently and honestly. We naturally try to find candidates who match the position specification as closely as possible and are within the targeted compensation range. However, it sometimes turns out that the "perfect person" exists but is quite expensive, or that there is no such individual and trade-offs must be made. By sharing information on a regular basis and helping clients adjust when necessary, we a re better able to bring each search to a timely conclusion.
- Weinstein & Company maintains long-term contact with clients and successful candidates to be sure that both sides are satisfied and to help address any issues that arise.
